Judith A. Cohen is the head of the firm’s real estate department. Her practice includes commercial acquisitions, financing, entity formations, commercial lease creation and review, negotiation and resolution of uncertainties and disputes in the transaction and leasing processes, title work, and conservation acquisition. Before forming Stein, Rudser, Cohen & Magid, Ms. Cohen was a founding partner of Bryan, Hinshaw, Cohen & Barnet, and an associate with Stein & Lubin, both in San Francisco. Ms. Cohen’s clients include developers, brokers, architects, property acquisition and management entities, commercial landlords and tenants, and conservation organizations. In addition to her practice, Ms. Cohen is an adjunct professor of law at the University of San Francisco, where she is currently teaching Real Estate Transactions and Real Estate Secured Transactions. Ms. Cohen is a trustee of Prospect Sierra School in El Cerrito, California. For 15 years she was a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Community Legal Education, also known as the Street Law Project, and for ten years she taught in the Street Law High School and Juvenile Detention Center programs. She was also a founding board member of the Center for Youth Development Through Law. Ms. Cohen was admitted to the bar in California in 1984. She received her B.S. in Communication Studies from Northwestern University in 1981 and her J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 1984. Ms. Cohen is a member of the Alameda, San Francisco, and Marin County Bar Associations. She is admitted to practice before all trial and appellate courts in California, as well as in California’s Northern and Eastern Federal District Courts. Ms. Cohen is a native of San Francisco.
